Interfacing for waistband - reinforcement

This natural cotton sew-in interfacing canvas is the reference interfacing for reinforcing waistbands in traditional and high-end tailored construction. Specifically designed to provide supple rigidity and dimensional stability, it guarantees durable waistband support without a "cardboard" effect. Its pure cotton composition and plain weave give it the mechanical properties required to withstand the stresses of wear.

Instructions for Use

Mandatory Pre-shrinking: Before any cutting, it is imperative to shrink this canvas (soak it in hot water and dry it) to cause maximum shrinkage. This step prevents the waistband from distorting during subsequent washing of the garment.

Mounting Technique: This canvas is a sew-in interfacing. It is attached to the seam allowances of the waistband with basting stitches or, in the tailoring tradition, with stitches to ensure invisible and lasting integration.

Compatibility: Ideal for medium to heavy weight trouser or skirt fabrics (wool, gabardine, woollen cloth) where firm support is required. It can also be used for certain leg hem or facing edge reinforcements requiring local hold and high wear resistance.

Care Instructions

Washing: Wash at 40°C maximum. The initial pre-shrinking allows subsequent washing in accordance with the instructions of the finished garment.

Bleaching: Avoid the use of chlorine-based bleaching agents.

Drying: Natural drying.

Pressing: Press with a hot iron (cotton setting), if necessary after assembly, using a press cloth.
