In this new collection, Teresa Gilewska addresses beginners in fashion pattern making and amateur sewers wishing to learn how to create their patterns independently.

The first two chapters of this volume 5 explain how to construct attached collars from measurements taken on the neckline tracing. The third chapter is devoted to the various transformation techniques for these types of collars (tailored, shirt, officer, flat...).

The following chapter deals with collars cut in one piece with the bodice (shawl, stand-up...) which are constructed directly as an extension of the bodice.

Finally, the last chapter is dedicated to drafting hoods, whose singular shape is always based on the bodice neckline.

To help you acquire this know-how, the author explains, through examples of models in very varied styles, how to analyse each type of collar in detail to determine which transformation technique to use according to the case, as the main difficulty is not mastering these transformation techniques, but knowing which one (or which ones) to use to construct the pattern of the model one has in mind.

The Author - Teresa Gilewska

After teaching pattern making in Poland, at a fashion school in China, then at a vocational school in Paris, Teresa Gilewska ran her own design studio in Paris until 2000. Since then, she has devoted herself exclusively to teaching and to the written transmission of knowledge essential to fashion industry professions. Her pattern making books have sold over 60,000 copies in France and have been translated into seven languages. Teresa Gilewska heads the FdM school (Formation de Mode) founded in 2014.
