In this new collection, Teresa Gilewska addresses beginners in fashion pattern making and amateur sewers wishing to learn how to create their own patterns independently.

The first part of this volume 3 describes in a simple and detailed manner the fundamentals of taking measurements and constructing the basic skirt pattern.

The second part presents the construction of the skirt pattern used as a base for transformations to obtain various skirt models.

The third part explores the various transformation methods of the basic pattern: flaring the bottom of the skirt by closing the waist darts, applying the cutting technique, placement and flaring of lines or cut segments, creating volume, applying pleats and gathers, etc., in order to arrive at a finished pattern of the desired model.

The main difficulty is not mastering these transformation techniques, but knowing which one (or which ones) to use to construct the pattern of the model one has in mind.

To help you acquire this know-how, the author explains, through examples of skirt models in very varied styles, how to analyse each model in detail to determine which transformation technique to use in each specific case.

The Author - Teresa Gilewska

After teaching pattern making in Poland, at a fashion school in China, then at a vocational school in Paris, Teresa Gilewska ran her own design studio in Paris until 2000. Since then, she has devoted herself exclusively to teaching and to the written transmission of knowledge essential to fashion industry professions. Her pattern making books have sold over 60,000 copies in France and have been translated into seven languages. Teresa Gilewska heads the FdM school (Formation de Mode) founded in 2014.
