The collar canvas is a structural interfacing dedicated to the making of the collar stand and collar fall in the traditional tailoring method. Made exclusively from natural linen, this non-fusible canvas is the essential support to ensure the hold, shape memory and permanent roll of jacket and coat collars. Its bias cut allows precise shaping and supple integration following the cervical anatomy.
To shape the canvas, it must be moistened and firmly pressed before the pad stitching stage. Steam pressing establishes the collar curve and stabilises the linen structure. Dry your canvas thoroughly before any handling.
Pad Stitching: Use manual herringbone stitches, executed on the diagonal, to fix the canvas to the under-collar felt. The density of pad stitching must be adjusted to control the rigidity and the break line. The canvas must be fixed to the jacket body interfacing (horsehair or cotton canvas) with loose and supple stitches so as not to restrict collar movement.
The stiff collar canvas is ideal for jackets requiring an accentuated roll and a firm hand.

Cleaning the canvas is intrinsically linked to cleaning the finished garment. Only professional dry cleaning is accepted. Pressing must be done with a press cloth at a moderate temperature so as not to damage the natural linen structure.
