This traditionally crafted grosgrain ribbon is woven in France on wooden shuttle looms, ensuring an authentic structure and superior fibre suppleness. Its 100% cotton composition and 55 mm width make it ideally suited for fine millinery and tailoring work requiring a matte, stable finish. This premium product allows precise handling without fibre alteration during the assembly stages. The no. 5 grosgrain ribbon is ideal for headband fittings and hat brim finishes.
This ribbon is specifically designed to be shaped with an iron to follow the curves of headband fittings or hat brims. Due to its pure cotton structure, it is essential to carry out a thorough shrinking with steam before any cutting or application, in order to stabilise the natural shrinkage of the fibre. Its suppleness allows the creation of complex millinery bows (flat bow, French bow) with a clean drape and lasting hold.
Storage: store away from direct light and moisture to preserve the depth of colour.
Protection: the use of a press cloth is recommended when blocking with an iron to avoid glazing the cotton.
Tools: the use of perfectly sharpened tailor's shears is necessary to ensure a clean cut through the weave.
