This traditional grosgrain ribbon is woven in France on wooden shuttle looms, guaranteeing an authentic structure and superior fibre suppleness. Its 100% cotton composition and 15 mm width make it suited for high-end millinery and tailoring work requiring a matte, stable finish. This premium product allows precise handling without fibre alteration during the construction stages.
This ribbon is specifically designed to be worked with an iron to follow the curves of headband fittings or hat brims. Due to its pure cotton structure, a full steam shrinking process is essential before any cutting or application, to stabilise the natural fibre shrinkage. Its suppleness allows the creation of complex milliner's bows (flat bow, French bow) with a clean drape and lasting hold.
Storage: store away from direct light and humidity to preserve the depth of colour.
Protection: the use of a press cloth is recommended when shaping with an iron to avoid glazing the cotton.
Tools: the use of perfectly sharpened tailor's shears is necessary to ensure a clean cut of the weft.
