The tailor's sleeve board looks like a small ironing board with various shapes. It allows you to easily press the facing and the collar. Indeed, thanks to its various shapes, you can easily fit a jacket to open your seam.
The choice of sleeve board depends on your sewing projects and therefore on the elements you need to press. That is why there are sleeve boards in more or less rounded and more or less long shapes.
The ideal for good pressing is to use a wooden, non-folding sleeve board. Most often, sleeve boards are made of beech wood, which is a hardwood and tannin-free. Tannin can mark clothes during steam and water pressing, hence the importance of tannin-free wood. The disadvantage of folding sleeve boards is that you cannot press hard enough to flatten the seam. They are also less stable.
Pressing is a non-negligible part of the proper completion of your work. Indeed, it allows you to have clean seams and a beautiful finish. The sleeve board allows for precise and meticulous pressing.
Simply slide your item onto the sleeve board and press. The sleeve board will avoid the sometimes unsightly transverse creases.

The sleeve board is sold assembled.
As the sleeve board is made of unvarnished beech wood, when you first use it with humidity (steam or water), this will slightly open the pores of the wood. The pores will patinate over time and the sleeve board will become perfectly smooth. You can, if you wish, add a cover to your sleeve board.
WARNING sleeve boards are made of wood, which is a natural element. There may be a slight variation in colours and the wood grain may be slightly different.
