This traditional millinery petersham is woven in France on authentic wooden shuttle looms, ensuring a superior structural integrity and fiber flexibility. With a 93% cotton composition and a 35mm width, it is specifically engineered for high-end millinery and bespoke tailoring requiring a matte, stable finish. This professional-grade ribbon allows for precise manipulation without compromising the fiber during the construction process.
This ribbon is specifically designed to be "iron-curved" or "blocked" using a steam iron to follow the contours of crown bases, headbands, or brim edges. Due to its pure cotton structure, it is imperative to thoroughly steam-shrink (decatize) the ribbon before cutting or mounting to stabilize the natural fiber contraction. Its flexibility allows for the creation of intricate millinery bows (flat bows, French bows) with a crisp fall and durable hold.
Storage: Store away from direct sunlight and humidity to preserve the depth of the Navy Blue and Gold dye.
Protection: The use of a pressing cloth is recommended during steam shaping to avoid scorching or glazing the cotton.
Tooling: Use professional-grade shears to ensure a clean cut of the weft and prevent fraying.
