This asymmetric Fedora-style crown is designed for blocking felts, straws and various millinery textiles. It is entirely manufactured in France in Tergnier by labs10.fr, from French linden wood selected for its stability. The varnished finish provides protection against heat and humidity when working with steam. This block is ideal for a retro cloche hat.
The crown is designed to be used alone or in combination with a brim. Although the varnish protects the wood, applying a stretch film before blocking is recommended to prevent any dye bleeding onto the block and to extend its durability. For brim mounting, the base is equipped with 6 symmetrical holes allowing the passage of metal blocking rods. It is compatible with the standard French (10 cm), British (5 inches) and Australian (4 inches offset) spacings.

Finish: High-resistance varnish for humidity and heat.
Height: High side 14 cm, side 11.5 cm, centre back 9.5 cm, centre front 9.5 cm, at top 10.7 cm (reference for size 58 cm).
Central hole: Standard 3.5 cm.
Outer holes: Standard 2.5 cm.
Centre-to-centre compatibility: 10 cm vertical (French), 10 cm horizontal (Austrian), 5 inches (English), 4 inches offset by 1 inch (Australian).

Without string groove (groove for placing the string): the block height is as specified in the technical specifications (above)
With string groove (groove for placing the string): the crown height is increased by 1 cm below the groove. For example, if the base block is 12 cm high in size 58, you will receive a 13 cm crown with the string groove.
Clean with a dry cloth after each use to remove material or stiffener residue. Do not use solvent products that could damage the hat block. In case of excessive humidity, let dry in open air away from direct heat sources to avoid any deformation of the wood. You can store them in a cool, dry place, on a flat surface when not in use. Do not heat the block above 100 °C.
